Species of Flies

Why is it better?

SimpliFly Girl with Horse
Why is SimpliFly™ better?

No organophosphates
Unlike other feed-through fly control products, SimpliFly does not contain organophosphates. It has no effect on blood cholinesterase levels. It can be used in conjunction with other fly control products without restriction.

LarvaStop’s mode of action is specific to insects. It prevents the development of fly larvae by interfering with the production of chitin – a component of an insect’s exoskeleton but a substance not found in horses.

No resistance
LarvaStop, a fly growth regulator (FGR), is even effective against resistant fly populations.

Extensive or improper use of pesticides results in the destruction of biological control agents and encourages the development of pesticide resistance. High levels of resistance in house fly populations have been documented. This resistance makes it increasingly difficult to control these pests. Unlike other insecticides, there are no known resistance issues with LarvaStop™.

Reduced-Risk status
SimpliFly is the only feed-thru fly control product granted Reduced-Risk status by the Environmental Protection Agency.

EPA Reduced-Risk

The U.S. E.P.A.’s “ Reduced-Risk” Pesticide Program, an initiative begun in 1993, expedites the review and registration of pesticides that the Agency believes pose less risk to human health and the environment. “Reduced-Risk” pesticides have one or more of the following advantages over existing conventional pesticides:

  • Low impact on human health
  • Lower toxicity to non-target organisms (birds, fish, plants)
  • Low potential for groundwater contamination
  • Low use rates
  • Low pest resistance potential
  • Compatibility with Integrated Pest Management (IPM) practices
